   Submission Dates:   All award nomination packages are due by 03/25/2010 (unless otherwise noted) 
   How to Submit: 
 
      1.   Complete nomination write-up (Self nomination acceptable) 
 
         a.   Use MS Word 
         b.   Maximum 500 words 
         c.   Single or Double spaced type written 
         d.   Narrative format 
         e.   You may submit write-ups for more than one person 
 
      2. Complete the nomination form and make sure you choose award level for Local only or Local/International.

AFCEAN OF THE MONTH AWARD

DESCRIPTION:   Each month one member of AFCEA is accorded the unique honor of being named AFCEAN of the month.   Any member may nominate another member by describing and submitting the nominee’s qualifications.    
 
CRITERIA:   This award is open to any AFCEA member, and recognizes a strong and sustained commitment to the goals and objectives of this Association.   Nomination should include some or all of the following information:  

     
  • Overall justification as to how and why candidate exemplifies the consummate AFCEAN  
  • Explanation showing how candidate's AFCEA participation exceeds the norm  
  • Outline of candidate's total AFCEA involvement, with detailed emphasis on current activities  
  • Description of ways in which candidate involves his or her organization/people in AFCEA activities  
  • Details about candidate's specific contributions in support of AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives 
 
The deadline for nominations for the monthly award is the 2nd Thursday of each month.

GENERAL JAMES M. ROCKWELL AFCEAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

DESCRIPTION:   This award is the premier award for exemplary service to AFCEA over the past year. 
 
CRITERIA: Nominee must be a member of AFCEA, and a senior representative of the C4I community, who has made significant current contributions toward furthering the goals and objectives of the Association. Nomination should include some or all of the following information: 

     
  • Overall justification as to how and why candidate exemplifies the consummate AFCEAN 
  • Explanation showing how candidate's AFCEA participation exceeds the norm 
  • Outline of candidate's total AFCEA involvement, with detailed emphasis on current activities 
  • Description of ways in which candidate involves his or her organization/people in AFCEA activities 
  • Details about candidate's specific contributions in support of AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives 

MERITORIOUS AWARD FOR ENGINEERING

DESCRIPTION: This is a mid-career award for meritorious accomplishment in engineering in current or previous year of consideration. 
 
CRITERIA: Nominee must be a member of AFCEA. Justification should detail scientific or technical accomplishments which support AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives in the disciplines of communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems. Highlight as well ways in which nominee has contributed to the professional development of AFCEAN's (i.e., speaker, panelist, writer for SIGNAL Magazine, etc.).  

AFCEA LEADERSHIP AWARD

DESCRIPTION:   Awarded to a long-standing member of AFCEA with a record of sustained contributions to the Association, and exceptional leadership skills. 
 
CRITERIA:   Supporting rationale should document specific examples of performance that highlight outstanding leadership qualities within AFCEA. Nominee must have at least three years in a leadership position (at any level of Association activity) with documented growth and/or improvement in AFCEA under his/her leadership. The write-up must be based on leadership in AFCEA (not the candidates professional career).

AFCEA AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

DESCRIPTION:   This is a senior-level award for significant contributions to Information Technology (IT) over a sustained period of time. 
 
CRITERIA:   Nominee must be a member of AFCEA. Winner will be selected based on the following:  

     
  • Significant accomplishments in IT which advance the agency/department/organization mission, or which benefit the public in general  
  • Specific accomplishments in policy, planning, management, or implementation of IT in communications, electronics, intelligence or information systems  
  • Noteworthy achievements in programs impacting national strategies and international relations  
  • Furthering the exchange of knowledge about computers and IT between the defense and nondefense government communities  
  • A career of service reflecting a strong commitment to IT 

AFCEA MERITORIOUS AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

DESCRIPTION:   This is a mid-career level award for contributions to Information Technology (IT) in current or previous year. 
 
CRITERIA:   Nominee must be a member of AFCEA. Winner will be selected based on the following criteria:  

     
  • Through accomplishments in IT which advance the agency/department/organization mission, or which benefit the public in general 
  • Through specific accomplishments in policy, planning, management, or implementation of IT in communications, electronics, intelligence or information systems 
  • Through noteworthy achievements in programs impacting national strategies and international relations 
  • Through furthering the exchange of knowledge about computers and IT between the defense and non-defense government communities 

MEDAL OF MERIT

DESCRIPTION:   This Award recognizes dedicated service to the Association, combined with a sustained level of professional excellence in the fields of communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems. 
 
CRITERIA:   Nominee must be a member of AFCEA. AFCEA service will be more heavily weighed than C4I community contributions. Nominee must have three year minimum service time in AFCEA.

MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD

DESCRIPTION:   This is a mid-career award for meritorious contributions to AFCEA and to the community. 
 
CRITERIA:   Nominee must be a member of AFCEA. Nominees will be judged on a record of significant contributions to the Association, in combination with exceptional professional performance in the fields of communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems. (Note: AFCEA contributions will be more heavily weighed in the decision process.) At least two years involvement in assisting the Association meets and/or exceeds local Chapter or International goals. Examples must be documented with comparison statistics provided.  
 
Write-up must include the following: 
 
AFCEA Participation/Contributions 

     
  • Length of membership  
  • Chapter name  
  • Association positions/committees  
  • Details of specific initiatives taken to strengthen AFCEA (i.e., recruiting, sponsorship/development of events, measures to increase participation, involvement of organization/colleagues) 
 
Professional Accomplishments  
     
  • Specific contributions to employer/organization 
 
Recognition  
     
  • Previous AFCEA International or Chapter awards/recognition  
  • Other professional awards/achievements 

ADMIRAL JON L. BOYES MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO AFCEA (Int'l Only)

DESCRIPTION:   This award is the premier award for exceptional career service to AFCEA. 
 
CRITERIA:   Nominee must be a member of AFCEA, and a senior representative of the communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems community. Nomination should include some or all of the following information:  

     
  • Overall justification as to how and why candidate exemplifies the consummate AFCEAN  
  • Overall justification detailing a tradition of candidate's service to AFCEA  
  • Specific contributions in support of AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives  
  • Description of candidate's personification of the AFCEA image 

BENJAMIN H. OLIVER GOLD MEDAL FOR ENGINEERING (Int'l Only)

DESCRIPTION:   This is a senior-level award for significant contributions over a sustained period of time. 
 
CRITERIA:   Nominee must be a member of AFCEA. Justification should detail superior scientific or technical accomplishments which support AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives in the disciplines of communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems. Highlight as well ways in which nominee has contributed to the professional development of AFCEAN's (i.e., speaker, panelist, writer for SIGNAL Magazine, etc.). Winner will be selected by the AFCEA Technical Committee.

AFCEA CHARLIE ALLEN AWARD FOR INTELLIGENCE SERVICE

DESCRIPTION: This AFCEA award honors senior level intelligence professionals who are making significant contributions. 
 
CRITERIA:   Candidates for this award must demonstrate a long and distinguished record of significant accomplishments and senior leadership in support of the Intelligence Community at the national and/or international level. Nominees do not need to be AFCEA members.  
 
SUBMISSION:   The nomination must describe the candidate's professional record, detailing significant accomplishments in the intelligence arena. Where applicable, highlight the nominee's contributions to the AFCEA Intelligence program, whether at the chapter or international level.  
 

AFCEA MERITORIOUS SERVICE INTELLIGENCE AWARD

DESCRIPTION:   This AFCEA award honors intelligence professionals who are making significant contributions at the tactical, intermediate, or national levels. 
 
CRITERIA:   Candidates for this award may be at any stage in their intelligence career. They must demonstrate a track record of accomplishments in the intelligence arena and a professionalism that serves as an inspiration for others. Nominees do not need to be AFCEA members. 
 
SUBMISSION:   The nomination must document the candidate's specific intelligence accomplishments. Where applicable, highlight the nominee's contributions to the AFCEA Intelligence program, whether at the chapter or international level.  
 

HARRY C. INGLES AWARD (Large Chapter: Between 325 and 524 members)

DESCRIPTION:   Awarded to chapters which have most significantly contributed to the goals of AFCEA. 
 
CRITERIA:   Awards will be made in categories based on membership size. Awards will be given in the categories of Very Large, Large, Medium and Small. 

     
  • Fostering a healthy and growing organization by sponsoring events which benefit a broad range of its membership 
  • Displaying positive growth in individual membership recruiting and retention  
  • Recognizing the accomplishments of chapter members through nominations to the AFCEA International Awards Program and through local chapter awards programs  
  • Recognizing chapter and individual member achievements and activities through publication of chapter news items in SIGNAL Magazine  
  • Sponsoring at least one annual professional development event, in addition to regular chapter meetings, which meets the special needs of the local membership, thereby fostering a stronger chapter organization  
  • Supporting a local scholarship and awards program, or participating in the AFCEA International Educational Foundation program
