The Scott Field Heritage Air Park (SFHAP) association is soliciting donations for the SAFB airshow to be held on Aug 12-13, 2006. These funds are to support many enhancements to the basic show, such as vintage aircraft and other ground displays. The Air Force funds the appropriated side, which includes the Thunderbirds, but the other money has to come from outside sources. The Base cannot request financial support directly, so the SFHAP has accepted that task.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Checks should be made out to "SFHAP" with the memo "airshow." Tax ID is 37-1388711.

Col Mike McCullough, Chapter President,

The Scott-St Louis Chapter embraced the challenges of USAF, Force Shaping Initiatives by hosting a base-wide career fair and luncheon focusing on technical credentials needed in today’s marketplace. A four-person panel educated a packed house during the monthly luncheon event. Maj Randy Bodiford, Air Force Communications Agency discussed the status of Force Shaping Initiatives. Mr Bill Souser, SRA International, Inc. provided information on the Program Management certification programs. Mr. Jason Boone, TEKsystems, Inc. provided an informative brief on the role of consultants in today's business environment. Lastly, Ms. Cindy Ward, Nortel Government Solutions provided information on Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification programs.
Following the luncheon, the chapter hosted a job fair that was attended by over 300 Base personnel. While the event was focused on the needs of young officers being affected by force shaping, it was open to everyone. Thirty corporate partners participated.
Furthermore, 1Lt Dave Sorrels, AMC Communications Group was recognized at the luncheon for receiving one of six Emerging Leadership Awards at AFCEA West. SrA Michael Nereson, AMC Communications Group was also recognized for his award as the International Distinguished Young AFCEAN 2005.

Two Scott-St Louis Chapter members were honored at the AFCEA West International Conference in San Diego. Senior Airman Michael Nereson of the 805th Communications Support Squadron and 1Lt David Sorrels, AMC Communications Group, Executive Officer were both recognized for their outstanding contributions to the local chapter and community.
Senior Airman Nereson was awarded the International Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA) award for 2005. His selection as the International DYA was proceeded by three rounds of selections from the local, regional and then international levels prior to his announcement, January 10th, as the one International DYA for the entire AFCEA organization in 2005. His nomination was based upon his work as the Activities and Programs chair for the Young AFCEAN Council, promoting the chapter through their sponsorship of local Science Fairs, Golf tournaments and the annual Scott Communicators Sports Day.
First Lieutenant Sorrels was awarded one of six AFCEA International Emerging Leadership Awards given annually to prior DYA recipients. His work as the Scott-St. Louis Chapter Young AFCEAN Advisor garnered his nomination for the Emerging Leadership Award.
Chapter President, Colonel Michael McCullough, noted that, "Their selections at the International level are absolutely well deserved and show the type of outstanding work that we do here at the Scott-St. Louis Chapter, not only for the Base community, but within our local community as well. The programs they manage for us are the types that get attention from AFCEA International level each year."

The Scott-St Louis Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA) will sponsor a career fair 19 January 2006, at the Scott Club from 1400 to 1700 hours. Additionally, the Monthly luncheon is that day, and will feature a panel of individuals addressing technical credentials, and how they may help in finding a position. The luncheon will start at 1100, and is open to Defense Contractors, Military, and Government Civilians. While Military and Government civilians may register for a hosted lunch, Defense Contractors must be sponsored by their Companies, or pay for their meal.
This career fair is open to all, but was specifically planned to assist all personnel faced with making career decisions due to current Force Shaping initiatives or who are planning to separate for other reasons. The President of the Scott-St Louis Chapter, Colonel Mike McCullough declared "This fair presents a golden opportunity for local (and nationally-based) corporate offices to potentially hire technically astute, professionally sharp, military members with technical savvy, on-the-road experience, and tested leadership skills." Attendees at the fair will have the chance to learn more about job opportunities with local employers, have the opportunity to drop off a resume, or even a chance for an interview. Ms Brenda Newberry, President of the Newberry Group, Inc., will head this event and states, "It is important that we (AFCEA) step up and support each other in all areas including transitioning." For further information regarding this Career Fair, contact Ms. Nancy Sage at 636-442-5722 or nsage@thenewberrygroup.com, or to register for the luncheon, please consult the AFCEA Website at www.afcea-scott.org. Again, the event is open to everyone, whether you are preparing for a possible transition from active duty, or whether you just want to explore opportunities with local Defense Contractors in IT, Intelligence, Logistics, and other technical areas.
